Your Kingdom Come

by Ric Benson

Ric Benson, pastor of Kenmore Baptist church in Brisbane, has written a very insightful paper on the Kingdom and church leadership. It begins with an exploration of different aspects of Kingdom theology and concludes with application questions and reference material for further study and discussion.

Here is an extract.
“It is impossible to understand the purpose and mission of the local church without understanding the purpose and characteristics of the kingdom of God. It is also impossible to fulfil the Great Commission – to make disciples where we are by living under God’s rule and reign (Matthew 28 and Mark 16), the Great Commandment – to impart God’s unconditional love through our lives (John 13), the Cultural Mandate – to be engaged in and with the world but not conformed to its lifestyle (John 17), the Creation Mandate – to exercise responsible dominion over the physical world (Genesis 2), or to outwork the prayer Jesus taught His disciples to pray which included the phrase “God’s will be done on earth as it is in Heaven”, without understanding what the kingdom of God really means.”

Creating a culture of influence

by Mal Fletcher

Mal Fletcher heads up Next Wave International a communications group which is training companies, major community organizations, charities and churches to engage the future and move society forward in a positive direction – with a special focus on Europe.

In this article Mal challenges Christian leaders to re-evaluate their strategy for equipping their people to be effective agents for community transformation. Here is an extract,

“It is a fact of sociology that the group within a society which has the strongest and most well-defined culture will become the leading voice in that society. In any group of people, the one who builds the strongest culture always takes the lead. For churches and leaders to influence our highly secularised society, they must establish a culture of influence within the church which is stronger than that of the surrounding environment.
